Updated ADU Code Sections from Casita Coalition

The recently passed SB477 and signed into law in March 2024 by Governor Newsom reorganizes the ADU code.

As Jared Basler, AIA, Casita Coalition’s Policy Director says, “It’s important to note that there are no changes to the text or meaning of state ADU law. The only change is that it is no longer located in Government Section 65852.2 but rather split up into multiple ‘bite-size’ sections that make future changes easier to incorporate into the various code sections.”

What are those code sections? Basler and Casita Coalition created a simple spreadsheet that indexes the new code sections (lists their corresponding legacy code sections) and shows their topics as well as linking directly to the code.
